Officer Bios
PRESIDENT: Isabel Wetergrove

Hey everyone! My name is Isabel Wetegrove, I am a senior, and my major is Mechanical and Energy Engineering. I joined UNT SWE when I transferred to UNT in January 2022 and felt so welcomed and uplifted getting to know other women in STEM. Everyone I have met and known taught me so much and helped me significantly in my professional development. This year, I want to do the same for others. I believe professional development is an essential part of a college career, which includes reaching out to the community, developing technical skills, and surrounding yourself with people you can look up to and I love UNT SWE for that. In my free time, I enjoy 3D printing, playing video games with my boyfriend, and spending time with my family. A fun fact about me is that most of my family lives in Europe: one half in Germany, where I am from, and the other half lives in Romania, so part of my hobbies is also traveling!

VICE PRESIDENT: Anita Akpu

Hey! I'm Anita Akpu, a rising sophomore majoring in Biomedical Engineering. I decided to pursue this degree because of my love for helping people and passion for medical technological advancement. I have been an active SWE member since my first month at UNT because of the community of like minded young women passionate about their respective fields and passionate about seeing one another succeed. This pushed me to remain active and seek a leadership position because I believe we could all make a positive impact in the UNT engineering community. In my free time, I enjoy singing, cooking, binge watching shows, and spending time with friends and family. I am really excited about this school year and I can't wait to grow with as well as helping UNT SWE members grow as individuals and in their respective careers!

Hi! I'm Arlene! I'm a senior majoring in Computer Science, and I'm so excited to serve as this year's treasurer. I first started attending SWE meeting in 2021 and during my time in SWE I've had the opportunity to also serve as the Director of Outreach. I joined SWE because I had just changed my major and was looking for a community that would support me and help me grow. I was able to find that within SWE and I'm excited to be part of the officer team this year to continue doing that for other members!

SECRETARY: Tiffany Abraham

Hey everyone! My name is Tiffany Abraham, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Information Technology and this is my first year being your Secretary Officer for UNT SWE 2024-2025 year! I'm originally from New York but decided to come here to further my education. I first joined SWE in the Fall 2023 semester in my junior year and absolutely loved it! I love being able to meet other women in STEM, creating friendships, and having the chance to make great connections! During my free time I like to hangout with friends and travel! A fun fact about me would be that I played lacrosse at one point during my junior year, I earned a Google AI essentials certificate as well as earned my Google Cybersecurity certificate, and I've traveled to three different islands last summer. I cannot wait to have an amazing and successful year!

DIRECTOR OF OUTREACH: Jasmine Vina

Howdy everyone! My name is Jasmine Vina, and I am the Director of Outreach for the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at the University of North Texas. I am a transfer student majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology, currently a junior, and expected to graduate in Spring 2026. As a military brat, I grew up all over the world, spending most of my life overseas. I graduated high school in Japan and earned my associate's degree in Mathematics in England. This diverse background and unique experiences led me to fall in love with SWE, as it was an organization that provided a place to channel these aspects. By joining SWE, I found a place of acceptance, sisterhood, and career development, benefiting not only ourselves but also our future careers in the real world.

Hi everyone! My name is Mesonma Anwasi, I am a senior majoring in Material Science and Engineering and so excited to be Head of Public Relations! I was born in Chicago but raised in Wichita Falls, Texas. A fun fact about me would be that I can read and write in Hebrew. I love SWE because I've met some lovely people here and I appreciate the experiences and connections it provides me with.

HEAD OF INTERNAL RELATIONS: Prabhjot Kaur Rehlan

Hey! My name is Prabhjot Kaur Rehlan. I am the Head of Internal Relations officer for UNT SWE. I am a sophomore majoring in Biomedical Engineering and minoring in Mechanical Engineering. I am the an undergraduate research assistant in the Biomedical Engineering department at UNT. In my free time, I like to read and listen to books, cook, exercise, grow plants, and learn French. I have an interest in learning new things, especially topics related to the human body, health and fitness. I'm looking forward to organizing events for UNT SWE members this year and help foster a supportive community for women in STEM!
