National Conference

That's a wrap on WE19!!
If you're not sure whether you want to attend WE20, maybe this video will help! 👇

Why should I attend National Conference?

This semester, SWE will be having their annual Conference, WE20, in New Orleans, Louisiana!  This takes place November 5-7 and is the world's largest conference and career fair for women!

Conferences are a great opportunity for many reasons:
  • Attending conferences gives you opportunities to grow as a local and national SWE member
  • There are so many chances to network and show off all the hard work you have done
  • You will meet so many people, both professional and new friendships
  • This is not only a professional development event, but a time to let loose and have some fun!

Where is it? When is it? Where can I stay?

This year's conference will be at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center:
900 Convention Center Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70130

We will have SWE sponsored hotel rooms. These have been paid for by UNT SWE. To learn what you need to do to qualify for a room, please continue reading! This year we do have limited spots an if you are selected, we will be proving help/ resources to make sure you know the best places to stay at in New Orleans. Other than that, you are welcome to join UNT SWE throughout the conference!

If you purchase a full registration to the WE20 conference, you will be entitled to includes five meals throughout the two-day conference including admission to the career fair, Keynote Speaker presentations, 50+ breakout sessions and plenary panels.

Collegiate SWE Members
Early (on or before 10/19) $110
Late (on or before 11/02) $130

**Note: these pricing are based on being a member of SWE. If you are not a member of SWE, prices go up about $20 more.

How can I qualify for the UNT SWE paid housing?

In order to stay in a UNT SWE hotel room, you need to qualify. The guidelines for qualification are:
  • You are a member of UNT Society of Women Engineers through CampusLabs
  • As a representative of UNT and our chapter, you agree to conduct yourself responsibly and professionally
  • You agree to write a short essay about your time at conference
  • You agree to be added into a GroupMe chat
  • You agree to have fun and meet new people.

First, you need to register for and pay for the WE20 Conference.

Fill out the application on CampusLabs: COMING SOON!

Once you have done both of these items, you will receive a confirmation e-mail stating that you have been selected for a spot in UNT SWE housing.

Note: If you do not plan on staying with us or all the SWE rooms are filled up, you will need to find a hotel to stay in. SWE is not responsible to provide housing- space is limited and not guaranteed!

How do I get to New Orleans?

This part is entirely up to you. SWE DOES NOT pay for flight ticket if you plan to fly- that is entirely up to you.

Note: If you are staying in SWE sponsored hotel, you need to be in New Orleans by (date TBA) and stay till check-out. If you cannot, this may affect your ability to get a SWE room.

We will announce when the housing application is open to apply for SWE housing.
**Applying does not guarantee a room spot!

How do I register for WE20?

So you've decided that you want to go? Then it's time to get registered! First things first, you'll need to go to SWE Website. Once you have that page open, you need to log in or create an account, and in your SWE portal, click on "SWE Event Registration". From their you can register for WE20!

You can choose to attend as many events as you would like, most of our members chose to go to all the free things (which may or may not be sold out) and to a dinner that cost an additional $25. They also have company tours, but you will have to pay extra for those. Again, you can go to as many events as you'd like but many of them you have to pay extra for.

What if you need help paying for Conference?

If you are in need of financial assistance for conference, please consider filling out the UNT College of Engineering USPDF (due date TBA) or the UNT Raupe Travel Grant (due date TBA).
